Background

IMG_2791_edited.jpg

Psychodynamic therapy offers a space to explore the hidden roots of your feelings, helping you discover patterns of relating set in early life experience. This helps us to understand current difficulties and repeating or persistent struggles in a wider context, leading to the possibility of a conscious change in how we relate to ourselves and others in the present and future.

Jay’s clinical journey began in 1994, following his psychology studies at the University of Sunderland. He dedicated eleven years to Thornby Hall Therapeutic Community, where he immersed himself in group dynamics and earned a PG Diploma in Psychodynamic Therapeutic Care. Seeking to specialize in one-to-one support, he completed a PG Diploma at the University of Leicester in 2008. Over the years, he has served as a youth and student counsellor, a course tutor at Leicester University, and a facilitator for personal development groups. In 2017, he founded the Leicester Centre for Psychodynamic Counselling, a thriving community hub now celebrating a decade of providing affordable therapy and training the next generation of practitioners. Today, Jay continues his private practice from this community in central Leicester.
